I was commissioned by the FT to illustrate a positive review of a book called 'You Dont Have To Live Like This'. The story is about a dotcom tycoon’s attempts to regenerate a blighted city which ultimately point out the limitations of Silicon Valley’s can-do culture. The main character, a white, middle class American, moves to a poor part of Detroit as part of the program. The story echoes that of the pioneers, as he also has problems with the original inhabitants, along with many others.
