The actuality of what Karl Popper formulated in 1944 as the "paradox of tolerance" is evident in the light of the political situation: "Unrestricted tolerance leads with necessity to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to the intolerants and if we are not ready to defend a tolerant social order against the attacks of intolerance, the tolerants will be destroyed and tolerance with them.
