The Cahuzac case is revealed by Médiapart, a French independent newspaper. The French budget minister would have illegally held a Swiss bank account for more than 20 years in the years 1980-2000. The newspaper Médiapart has compromising evidence, but the minister still denies the existence of such an account.
This case raises a more general question of the independence of journalism because the newspaper Médiapart suffers criticism from all sides even as he gave evidence of his accusation to the courts.
