Word of mouth - from a personal project I call »Mindshots«. From time to time I illustrate my thoughts by using this simple red, black and white style to get some ideas out of my head. The inspiration for each piece comes from my daily life while working, talking, watching a movie, and hanging out with friends, or while getting bored in the dentist’s waiting room. Some are socially critical, humorous, or just plain ridiculous. Source: https://www.behance.net/gallery/23886493/50-Mindshots |

The Indian Hindu nationalist party considers the cow a holy animal, which is why cow urine is seen as an ancient medical cure. In a new policy the party calls for protecting these traditional remedies. Taken to its logical conclusion, this policy will open the door to many more exceptions, playing into the hands of patent-happy international pharmaceutical companies. Thesis cover for Quirine Fillekes. Goal thesis; the improvement of HIV-treatment for HIV-infected children and pregnant women in Africa. Women often have to walk for days to get medication for them and their children. This medication often must be stored in a refrigerator. This is a problem for people who do not have electrical power at their disposal. Research on HIV medication often involves expensive drugs, which are not available in developing countries.
The dissertation is in part about examining the addition of an additional drug in simple, available & affordable methods to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV. Also, it is about improving HIV treatments for children in developing countries: new, appropriate HIV drugs are evaluated, and the dosage guidelines for these HIV medicines for the children are evaluated.
(Part of the) conclusion: there are good alternatives available, but there is still much research to be done for cheap and second-line (and third-line) HIV drugs for children. Research and practice must be brought closer together. There is still a long way to go…
